About Our Charitable Organisation

OUR LIFE CHANGING ADVENTURE

Pimp My Tuk Tuk (“PMTT”) is a charitable organisation that was founded in 2013. A group of individuals decided to celebrate a friend’s 50th birthday by driving 20 tuk tuk’s across India from Chennai to Goa.

Something that started out as a fun trip which soon became a life changing adventure, raising some money to help with different projects like the foundations of a school in Chennai to some seriously ill children in an Orphanage in Mangalore. On completion of our adventure the seed was planted and the 20 riders soon become fully dedicated to:

We are now an ever-growing group of people from all over walks of life all over the world looking to make that small but meaningful difference to peoples lives to improve quality of life sustainably in so many different ways.

Volunteering

We are always interested in partnering up with sponsors, volunteering or arranging events with focus around our causes.

Donating

To date in India and Sri Lanka PMTT has raised circa USD $900,000 collectively.

Trips

We are always lining more trips up for with various targeted projects that need capital raising and oversight.

Design A Trip

PMTT organize successful meaningful Tuk Tuk tours in various countries and bespoke events like charity walks, corporate social responsibility weekends for the corporate world.

Trips are always available and can be designed to suit specific projects or just the number of days you have available.

Experiencing my first ride and tour of Sri Lanka in a Tuk Tuk opened my eyes and regained my confidence and trust in charitable work. Seeing funds raised to help people in their everyday lives for things that we so often take for granted really gave me a desire to help and do what I could for the people of Sri Lanka. Watching villagers when a water plant meant they had clean water for the first time, children receiving school books and bags, bicycles for families to use as transport to school, work and running errands, were just some of the many experiences and gifts we were able to help with. Then there were those in orphanages and homes who had been abandoned but needed even more basic needs, food, clothes, medicine. I have been back to Sri Lanka multiple times both with Pimp My Tuk Tuk and personally and am always touched by the warmth and gratitude of the people. It has been and will continue to be a privilege to work with and help better people’s lives.

I was lucky enough to be able to join PMTT on the 2017 Tour and I can honestly say it was life-changing. Seeing the country and its people so up close and personal gave me a completely different perspective on what is important in life. What PMTT are doing in Sri Lanka is exactly what charity should be in my opinion. The people who are raising the money are there on the ground helping distribute the aid. The PMTT team are coordinating with the locals to find out what they think they need and helping them achieve their goals however possible. Sri Lanka and its people are Beautiful.

Back in 2013, a group of friends got together to celebrate a 50th birthday. From that humble beginning, a force of good materialised into what we now know as PMTT. A road trip from Chennai to Goa in Tuk Tuk’s, an adventure come true… But it’s not just for fun… It has a much more serious side, providing help to people that desperately need it. This then snowballed into a charity that has raised over USD750,000 over the trips, one to India and two to Sri Lanka... The funds go directly to the people who need them, without costly middleman , and the participants in this charity directly see how much good they are doing. This is such a win-win situation, as drivers get to experience a country they never would see otherwise, but more importantly, it really is saving lives.

PMTT 2017 was definitely an unforgettable experience and one of the highlights of my life. Where else could you combine adventure, fun, exploration, and delivering real impact within a single journey? 3 things jump out of my mind whenever I think of PMTT 2017. Foundation of Goodness as the main beneficiary of PMTT 2017 has been improving the livelihood of rural Sri Lankans since 1999. They have done tremendous work in women's empowerment, enterprise and business skills development, sports program, environment, water, and rural development. We saw and experienced first-hand the work that they have done to the rural community. Kudos to Alex and the entire PMTT team. PMTT 2017 was professionally organized, from the planning, fundraising, logistics, and itinerary. Everything ran smoothly, before and after the event. The 1 week we spent in Sri Lanka was full of laughter, smiles, a sense of exploration and adventure, and gratefulness. We explored the Sri Lanka countryside by riding tuk-tuk for a week, experienced Sri Lankan's hospitality and smiles, and at the same time delivered positive impacts to the local community.

I was lucky enough to be invited on the trip in 2017.The organisation and comradery are the things that stood out for me along with the overall charity work. The organisers work closely with the Foundation of Goodness , a local charity. Every day is an adventure as you ride through the beautiful countryside often visiting places where the charity has helped. It’s like nothing I have participated in before and the memories of the trip will stay with me forever.
